David Claudio
David Claudio was born in Lima, Peru. After finishing his Journalism career in 1995 with the highest honors, he was admitted to the National Conservatory of Music in 1996, obtaining his Professional Clarinet Player Diploma in 2003 with the highest qualifications. During his last two years in the National Conservatory of Music, he started studying Orchestral Conducting with Mexican Conductor Eduardo García Barrios. That experience let him conduct the National Conservatory Symphony Orchestra as Guest Conductor in 2002 and 2003. He was appointed Principal Conductor of the National Conservatory Children Symphonic Band in 2003, and selected Guest Conductor during Yamaha’s International Seminar for Conductors (Lima, 2002 and 2003).
After graduating from the National Conservatory of Music, he was admitted to the Sibelius Academy in 2003 as a degree student in the Wind Orchestra Conducting Program. Among his teachers were Kalervo Kulmala, Kari Tikka, Elias Seppälä, Pertti Pekkanen, Mikko Franck and others. In May 2005, he was admitted as a degree student in the Orchestral Conducting Program of the Sibelius Academy, where maestro Leif Segerstam is the Professor. Since September 2005 he's a current student of this class, where among his teachers are Leif Segerstam, Atso Almila, Jorma Panula, John Storgårds, Hannu Lintu, Markus Lehtinen, Anssi Mattila and others.
