About 'Finlandia: canto a la música'
This event marked the beginning of kohoBeat’s internationalization. In contrast to previous ones, this project integrated a complete week of activities: a series of lectures, a symphony orchestra concert and a lied recital. This event took place in Lima from the 2nd to the 9th of June 2009 and it enjoyed wide press coverage, even before our arrival to Peru.
The name of the project contains three different meanings. The first pays homage to the thriving musical arts scene of today’s Finland. The second refers to the fact that our concerts included a considerable number of vocal and orchestral works, which are already a part of Finland’s musical soul. Finally, the title of the project also contains the literary figure of personification, in which Finland acquires its own voice and tells to the world that it loves Music; that it sings to Music.
The project was extraordinarily well received and it brought us closer together with the audience. Through this project, kohoBeat joined the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Radio Filarmonía.
