Andante
“Andante for strings” by Alfonso Leng is a brief work written in a post-romantic style. This lyrical work is a rare example of late romanticism in South America. Leng, a self-taught composer, did not draw on musical styles from his own native country; instead he was very much influenced by German post-romantic composers such as Richard Wagner. “Andante for strings” also exists in a version for orchestra under the title “Preludio No. 1”.
