Leo McFall

Leo McFall Leo McFall began studies on the piano and viola at an early age. After being a finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the year 2000 he went on to study conducting at the Sibelius Academy in Finland and Zurich Hochschule der kunste. He has participated in masterclasses with Bernard Haitink, Johannes Schlaefli, Neeme Jarvi, Jorma Panula and Leif Segerstam.

In summer 2008 he was a conducting fellow at the Tanglewood Music Centre, where he shared concerts with Bernard Haitink and Oliver Knussen. Last season he conducted performances of 'Carmen' with Glyndebourne Touring Opera and concerts with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Chicago Civic Orchestras. He also worked as Bernard Haitink's assistant with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and was accepted onto the German Music Council's programme for young conductors. Recently he gave the premiere of 'the Yellow Sofa' at the Glyndebourne Festival, and conducted performances of 'Cosi fan tutte' with Glyndebourne Touring Opera. Future plans include 'Don Giovanni' (GOT) and concerts with the Chicago Civic and Nuremberg Symphony Orchestras.
