Lisbet Klockars

Lisbet KlockarsSoprano Lisbet Klockars, a native of Finland, began her vocal studies with the highly praised soprano Sirkka Haavisto at the Ostrobothnian Conservatory in Kokkola, Finland. She continued her education in the Master of Music program at the Sibelius Academy, studying with soprano Marjut Hannula. She was also honoured to participate in master classes given by such teachers as Udo Reinemann, Peggy Bouveret, Jorma Hynninen and Petteri Salomaa. She has studied Lied interpretation with acclaimed pianists such as Ralf Gothóni, Larissa Gergieva, Ilmo Ranta and Gustav Djupsjöbacka. Devoted to Lieder, she and pianist Jari Tyni have performed many recitals since 2003 in Europe. They have won the national Finnish Polen Lied competition in 2004 and continue to perform as ensemble today. Other awards include the South Ostrobothnian Music Scholarship (1998) and the second prize in the national Pentti Koskimies Lied competition (1999).

In opera, Ms. Klockars made her debut as Susanna in a shortened version of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Ostrobothnian Conservatory. Other roles include Pepik in Janàcek's The Cunning Little Vixen (Sibelius Academy Opera), Drusilla in Monteverdi's L’incoronizione di Poppea (Sibelius Academy Opera), and Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni (Sibelius Academy Opera).

Lisbet Klockars, a recipient of the prestigious Asla Fulbright Graduate Grant for graduate studies in the U.S., was enrolled in the Graduate Performance Diploma program of the Peabody Conservatory of Music studying with soprano Ah Young Hong and coach Ernest Ligon 2007-2008. From August 2008 on, Ms. Klockars works as the director of Arbis Adult Education Centre music department in Helsinki, Finland.
