Helsinki Blues

During the Helsinki Biennale of March 1995, Anssi Kartunnen -its artistic director- asked several composers to write short pieces to be premiered by violist Paul Silverthorne during the “Biennale Marathon” a couple of days later. This is the result of that short-notice venture: a short piece based on a slow pulse, ornamented by arabesques and laments, which suited well the emotions that the composer Diego Luzuriaga was going through in those days.

The piece is dedicated to the great Paul Silverthorne, who premiered it on his Stradivarius the 11th of March of 1995.
