Young international musicians

“The outstanding reputation of the Sibelius Academy, the fall of the Soviet Union, and the creation of the European Union have, in the last decades, meant a strong globalization of musical life in Helsinki. It was only a matter of time before these talents came together into a meaningful, musical synergy. The primary driving force of kohoBeat (…), a group who wants to offer "an alternative and innovative space for the promotion of musical arts", is the Spanish pianist Javier Arrebola. Arrebola not only organized this quite complex event, but he also managed to find sponsors that made this concert possible.”

“(…) The evening began with Franz Schubert’s Sonata for piano in B flat major (…) Arrebola's interpretation was introspective and sensitive, with a very soft touch.”

“(In Bartók’s Sonata) the four musicians came together in a fascinating world of sparkling harmonics and irresistibly captivating rhythmical movements. It was also a great visual delight (…)”

“(…) The student orchestra kohoBeat, which is actually bigger than Tapiola Sinfonietta, took an active interest in the music under the distinguished management of British conductor Leo McFall. The piano part was played appropriately by the untiring Javier Arrebola.”
